I live in a apartment so I had to put my bird feeder right outside my window. I wanted a bird feeder for my cat. No birds have came (that I saw). Its been there for about two months.
Is there anyway, any tricks to make the birds come!?

How do I identify birds in flight and faraway?
Filed Under Birds | 2 Comments
I can’t seem to identify birds when they are in flight or if they are more than 7 meters away; they all look the same. I do carry a bird guide with me most of the time as well. Any tips?
Thankyou, Gingerjam.

Why are 2 different kinds of birds sitting on the nest on my back porch?
Filed Under Birds | 3 Comments
These birds built a nest on the porchlight. I always see a robin sitting on it. Well the other day, my mom says she saw a little bird that was blue with white under the wings sitting on it. What kind of bird might that be? And why would a bird other than the one nesting sit on that nest?

How do I learn to care for birds well?
Filed Under Birds | 8 Comments
Growing up no one in my immediate family has owned any pet birds. Then, just a couple of weeks ago I had a run-in with a friend’s African grey, and I was smitten. Since then I have been preoccupied with the thought of becoming a life long bird owner. What is a good species of bird that is hardy enough to get through the experience of having a first time care taker? I am not considering buying a long lived parrot to start with. Heaven forbid birds turn out not to be for me, and I turn ninety before the parrot dies.

If you can tell me tips on what you can do to get birds to use a bird house. I have always made wonderful birdhouses but the birds never use them.I would also like if you can tell me what type of birdhouse works best. Thank you so much.

How do I keep birds out of my tree’s at home?
Filed Under Birds | 6 Comments
Every night, I park my truck on the curb. We have two very old Oak Tree’s on our property. During the summer, birds land and nest in the tree’s and crap all over my truck. I’ll wash the truck and come home from work. The next day, there is bird crap all over my black truck. Ive been putting up with it for years, now its time to do something. Instead of hurting the birds physically or cutting down the trees, is there a cost-affective way to just keep them out of the Tree’s? Please Help?

My 12 year old daughter wants to take care of baby birds and then let them go. What kind of bird would be appropriate for this?
Obviously I am gathering information to prevent doing anything illegal. Do you have any suggestions on how I can have my daughter raise a baby bird?
Are you suggesting a native non-domestic, non-migratory bird like quail or duck or some other game birds?

Have a small garden with five plants. Last year the local birds did a lot of damage, and this year they seem to be starting again with the few tomatoes that already ripened.
I tried last year a net that they sell at Home Depot, but it blocked the sun and killed the plants. This year I put some red Christmas tree bulbs on the plants - read somwhere that the birds will think it’s fruit, peck on it, hurt their beaks, and give up.
This doesn’t seem likely but right now I’ll try anything. (Putting water out for them didn’t work either.)
I could pick the tomatoes before they’re ripe, but they don’t taste as good as vine-ripened.
Anyone have any experience with this prob, and a sure-fire remedy?

How do we get birds to build their nest somewhere else?
Filed Under Other - Home & Garden | 3 Comments
We have a window arch over our front door. Two birds are building a nest in the window arch. There are no eggs so far- just twigs, grass, & moss. My husband is afraid the nest will fall on our heads as we go out the door. He has knocked it down twice and put a fake rubber snake up there. The birds keep coming back. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the birds to build their nest somewhere else? We don’t want to hurt them. We just want them to build somewhere else.
